Social Enterprise is a national membership organization and key catalyst for the rapidly growing social enterprise movement in the United States. SEA provides social enterprises with the resources they need to succeed, support and grow social entrepreneurship on a national scale and serve as a voice for more sustainable social impact.
Social Enterprise Alliance defines a social enterprise as:
Organizations that address a basic unmet need or solve a social problem through a market-drive approach.
HEAVENDROPt is a social enterprise. At any given time, the unemployment rate for people with disabilities in the United States is DOUBLE that of people without disabilities. People who want to work are overlooked because of their disabilities that would require work accommodations. Our CEO, Sue Buchholtz, envisioned giving parachutes that could no longer used by the US Military a new life as a unique product that would preserve military history and provide jobs to people who would not otherwise be employed.
What does the Social Enterprise Alliance do?
The Social Enterprise Alliance builds awareness for social enterprise to the public. For members, the SEA offers educational opportunities and facilitates building national and local social enterprise networks. The SEA promotes sustainable social impact and social responsibility in the United States marketplace. The SEA has nearly 1000 members in 44 states and 16 chapters around the United States.
One of the larger events the Social Enterprise Alliance hosts is the annual SEA Summit. The SEA Summit and Social Good Festival bring social enterprises from across the nation together to network and build key relationships essential to building a successful social enterprise.
Additionally, the SEA promotes social enterprise on the ecommerce marketplace on their website and an annual Holiday Shopping Guide. HEAVENDROPt products are featured on both the website and the Holiday Shopping Guide.
